Summary

More than 3,000 years have passed since the first events recorded in Dune. Only one link survives with those tumultuous times: the grotesque figure of Leto Atreides, son of the prophet Paul Muad'Dib, and now the virtually immortal God Emperor of Dune. He alone understands the future, and he knows with a terrible certainty that the evolution of his race is at an end unless he can breed new qualities into his species.

But to achieve his final victory, Leto Atreides must also bring about his own downfall.

Don't miss other titles in the Dune series.

good book, spoilt by poor pronunciation

Simon Vance has a great voice but other members of cast are less than impressive

Excellent

As always, story and performance were excellent. The changing of narrators was a little jarring at times but not in any way bad.

Much much better than I remember

I have read the original Dune series of books 3 or 4 times. God Emperor was always my least favourite of the six books.
Not bad, but bit of a boring trudge compared to the rest; a necessary evil that had to he endured in order to reach the jewel of the series, and in my opinion the best sci-fi book ever written, Heretics Of Dune.
I admit that I wasn't particularly looking forward to listening through the audiobook.
How wrong could I have been. This was brilliant! The reader really brought the characters, and through that the story, to life. Brilliant!
On to Heretics now!

Absolutely brilliant!

Frank Herbert never disappoints. Another master piece..
The story is beautifully written and is a must for those who love sci-fi or who enjoyed "Children of Dune"

The golden path.

Frank Herbert takes the reader on the fabled golden path as we discover what Leato becomes in the hopes of fulfilling the dreams of saving the universe. But things are not as golden as had been hoped for.

Heavy at times, but still enjoyable.

Having seen the bad press this book has generated, I started this with some trepidation. Although not the best book in the series it is still enjoyable, it is not the slog it is made out to be, it doesn't have lots of action but you are instead invited to figure out the motives of the God emperor through his journals and dialogue. What unfolds is an epic plan which will determine humanity's future in this universe.

Like Clarke & Asimov the scale of Herbert's plan is mind boggling.

So read and see where the golden path takes you.

Again I find that Simon Vance tells this tale Well

Although biased by enjoyment of this series I still find that Simon Vance, and the cast, portray this novel very well.

I enjoyed the difference of Leto in person vs his tone from the journal excerpts.
