Summary

Tinker's Cottage nestles in a forgotten corner of deepest Somerset. It also happens to sit on a weak point in the space time continuum...which is somewhat unfortunate for Ian Faulkener, a graphic novelist from London, who was hoping for some peace and quiet in which to recuperate following a very messy breakdown.

It was the cats that first alerted Ian to the fact that something was not quite right with Tinker's Cottage...the cats and, of course, the Pope, disappearing literary agents, mislaid handymen and the insanity of Cherie Blair World. As Ian tries to untangle the mystery of the doors of Tinker's cottage, he risks becoming lost forever in the myriad alternate universes predicted by Schrödinger. Not to mention his cats.

Schrödinger's Cottage is a playful romp through a variety of alternate worlds peopled by an array of wonderful comic characters that are the trademark of David Luddington's novels.

For fans of the sadly missed Douglas Adams, Schrodinger's Cottage is a heartwarming comedy with touches of inspired lunacy that pays homage to The Hitchhiker's Guide.

Not for me

I found this hard going. Far too much time spent on establishing the effects of the cottage; I nearly gave up because very little happens in about the first two thirds of the book. The last part was better but I won’t be listening to this author again. Nigel Planer’s voice characterisations were stereotypical in the extreme; both he and the author appear to believe that people who live in south west England have few brain cells, no idea of how to use them and speak like Wurzel Gummage.

The best book I've listened to in a long while

It started out as a little odd but what a story, I haven't laughed like that for ages. The characters are delightful, the story line quite bizarre and Nigel Planer narrating was just the perfect choice. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

A must listen. Brilliantly funny and easy to listen to. I hope there will be more in this series.

Great storyline and entertaining

The story kept me hooked and chuckle. Well worth a listen, now I am keen for more from the author.

Silly little adventure

Funny story about a guy who goes on unexpected adventures right from his own cottage.

Loved the Douglas Adams-style humour!

Bizarre but amusing! Contains many nods to Douglas Adams whose books I love and know intimately, and the similar style of random weirdness made me chuckle! Not convinced about the narration as some of the characters sounded unnecessarily odd. But it left me wanting to visit Glastonbury again!!!

An engaging story

I couldn't put this one down, always wanted to know what was going to happen next. Oh, I do hope there's going to be a follow up.

nothing really stands out in this book

It took a while to get to explaining the bit that was obviously going to be explained and was central to the story. Whilst being mildly amusing, the story meandered somewhat and there wasn't any depth to the characters.

I noticed a few grammatical errors and there were some parts that went largelyunexplained (what was the relevance of the crystal, for example).

Not sorry I listened to this but it won't get a second hearing!

A joyous little listen

Very silly, very funny, lots of satire. Had an air of Pratchett about it but that's probably due to Planer narrating.
