Summary

Experience the pulse-pounding new thriller from multi-million selling Scottish crime fiction author, JD Kirk.

Community service clean-up was supposed to be a tedious affair. But, when a young offender stumbles upon a bin bag filled with human remains, a quiet Highland village is thrown into chaos.

The investigation leads DCI Jack Logan to a remote and nightmarish cottage, where a forgotten freezer holds a disturbing discovery: a full set of human fingers.

As more body parts are uncovered, Logan and his team hunt for a killer with a gruesome obsession for collecting trophies.

Across the vast Highlands, where secrets run as deep as the lochs, the team must piece together a jigsaw puzzle of horror that's as fragmented as the remains they've found.

But how do you solve a jigsaw when you can’t see the picture on the box?

Where the Pieces Lie is the 19th explosive novel from number one bestselling Scottish crime author, JD Kirk, perfect for fans of Ian Rankin, Chris Brookmyre, and Val McDermid.

Another excellent story brilliantly narrated.

Angus King and JD Kirk - a match made in Heaven - or Police Scotland.

The story was excellent, keep you on the edge of your seat stuff. The usual characters were a pleasure to be reacquainted with - I just love them all - Boy Band, Sinead, Hamza, Dave, Logan, Taggart, Shona the hilarious Irish pathologist, and of course Hoon both Mr and Berta! The storyline with the pathology assistant Neville was incredibly funny - and I didn’t foresee the route that would take at all! If that bit had been narrated by anyone other than Angus Kink it would not have been so funny.

A bit like another reviewer, I was disappointed there was no proper ending, i thought we were finished a few times only to realise I still had loads of listening time left - what a bonus - but when the end came, it was too soon, That said, it was still five stars. I hope you (JD Kirk) are writing fast and furiously right now as I need the next instalment.

Last comment - isn’t human nature so strange that a bag full of human body parts is not nearly so horrifying as the prospect of a bag of puppies!

Gets better and better

My favourite author and series of all time now. Each book builds on the last and gets better and better. Narrator makes it though. Could not imagine reading it on paper now.

Cliffhanger, disappointed

Grrr! my favourite author has let me down. He's written a book with no ending. Finishes on a cliffhanger. I can't see any point of books like this. They're basically just half a book. The story didn't seem to get going and was all rather tame.

Another belter

Waited for this for so long. I need to give it another listen to fully appreciate it but another brilliant book from JD/Barry. And another stellar performance by Angus. Just perhaps not my favourite… but we’ll see after the next listen

Spectacular

Every book in this series is wonderful but this one takes the biscuit. Fantastic storyline, developing characters, nail biting ending and brilliant narration.

Excellent as always

Loved it so much! Angus was excellent as always. If you want a book to make you laugh and keep you guessing pick this one. I don’t think I’ve read a book series where the characters have come to life as much as in Barry’s books. Read the series it’s a complete no brainier!
